The stand will still have corn, tomatoes, squashes, peppers, green , wax and Roma beans, apples, etc.  thru September, and maybe till frost. We will have corn till first frost.This is our last weekend for peaches, in the next 2 weeks we will have 4 different apple varieties on the stand, right now its early mac’s. Watermelons are available now, they are so good, late this year though. I will be starting the fall display on the stand for mid September, mums of all different colors, cornstalks.   Winter squashes will start getting cut next week. The pumpkins are turning their beautiful orange color, gourds of all kinds, winter cabbages, oh my.

Lorrie grows many different kinds of colored bell peppers.  Yellow bells, Red bells, Orange bells, & now Purple bells.  All of these colored bells, are Sweet.  Most people have tried yellow, red, and orange bells – and purple bells fall in this sweet catagory as well.  If you mix all 4 of these peppers together in a salad – well, WALLA!  What a spectacular array of color you will have, never mind the conversation starter about the purple peppers.  Folks will want to know where you got these gems, or that is what you all have shared with us.

Peppers, Green or Colored, can be used in many ways.  Try them by making  stuffed peppers,   slice them for a snack with dressing,  or add them  to your favorite dishes.  Give grilling them on the BBQ a try, or roasting them in the oven for sandwiches.  YUM!  No matter how they are cooked up  – they are always a treat.

Also in our colored bells bin, you will find long, brilliantly colored red peppers.  They are Red Marconi’s.  What is a marconi pepper?  Well, you remember those jars of roasted red peppers you can buy in the stores, to embellish  your sandwiches with?  They are made with this yummy pepper.  We sell them in Green, as well as Red.  The wonderful attribute these peppers offer, is no repeating or heart burn.  So, for all of you who wish you could eat green peppers – give these a try. Lorrie can attest to this rare quality they possess.  Just ask her.

Now, another wonderful thing about our peppers – THEY COME IN BULK QUANTITIES.  That’s right, bulk. We have Pick your own 1/2 bushel & Full bushel; or, we can pick 1/2 bushels or Full bushels for you for a little bit more.  If you would like to pick your own, check our Pick Your Own page for specifics -  Ooo, perhaps some red pepper relish ……what do you think?

A couple of things – for those of you who like to can/freeze, did you know you can buy our CORN in bulk?  We do sell 5 dozen bags of corn for canning or big events.  All you have to do, is call Lorrie and give her notice, so we can have it picked, and ready for you.

And, Yes, our CORN is picked FRESH, EVERY MORNING, to bring you that fresh quality you’ve come to expect from us.  Straight from our fields – direct to you.

Today, we harvested lots of garlic – so if you are waiting to buy some in quantity – don’t hesitate!  We harvested  upwards of 200 bulbs – just today, and still have lots more to go.  So, stop by and see what is new -

The stand is filling in, smelling simply wonderful, and so colorful.  Just another reminder that we have a surplus of Basil right now this coming week – so if you’d like to put up some Pesto, call Lorrie and put an order in – $15.00 for a 1/2 bushel.  That is a good deal  for alot of yummy

Equally exciting, are the many new faces we are being privileged to meet.   Over the course of the Spring, so many “newbies” have shared with us, how many times they had driven by  the stand – and have finally stopped.  Some said it was the display of the beautiful flowers everywhere; or a friend went on and on about this great veggie stand, and you had to see for yourself – whatever the reason you stopped by – WE ARE GLAD YOU DID!

The lettuces are gone for now, as this warmth has caused them to bolt.  We have more in the field, and more to be planted, but it will be a bit before they are ready.  We’ll keep you informed.

We still have flowers available, hangers, and pots, and even pepper plants & tomatoes and a few squash plants left.  The Veggie plants will be disappearing very soon, so if you’re one of those that have gotten a late start on your own garden, stop by this weekend, or it will be to late to grab some plants.  The flowers will still be around  – so no fear there.

Now all we need is, TOMATOES!!!

This is the third summer that we have been able to provide our fresh farm grown honey to our customers.  We have been very fortunate to work with a local beekeeper, who has the expertise and equipment, to harvest the bee’s crop of honey.  Not only is it beneficial for you folks, and us – but our crops are thrilled for the wonderful pollination that these buzzy girls,  provide.  On any given morning when we are wandering through the squash patch, the squash blossoms are filled with the  cheerful humming of the lady bees.

I’m sure you have all heard of the benefits of  eating local honey?  Eating the local honey from your area, puts the allergens (pollens from trees and flowers) into the honey nectar, thus inoculating us  the eater’s, and helping us  fight these allergens in the process.  Mother Nature is incredible.  All honey is good, but if you are specifically looking for the attributes of allergy fighting capabilities, buy from a beekeeper in your immediate area for best results.

If you look under the recipes tab, you will find a delicious honey ice cream  recipe you can whip up, with your newly acquired purchase of  golden elixir.  Here are some photo’s of our hives on location, and the delicious specimen itself.

It is so exciting when the first vegetables are put up on the wagon, and we the consumer, can start enjoying “Real” fresh food again.  Now all we need is some bright red tomatoes to add  to the mix, and we will be all set.

Lorrie mentioned that Garlic,  Beets, and all variety of Beans should be coming in in the next 2 weeks.  She said that the Bean bushes were loaded with blossoms.  Things are growing, so make sure to stay tuned here to know the latest.

With all the rain we’ve been having, the fields are looking beautiful.  The Tomato & Pepper plants are standing tall; the squashes are getting their next set of leaves; and the beet greens are waving tall.  Never mind how nice the rows of  Corn are looking. Can’t you just taste it???

We still have veggie plants available for those of you who still need to get some in the ground, or in pots.  There are also alot of annuals, perrenials, and accent plants still waiting for homes.
